2008 preview

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The 2008 Major League Soccer Season kicks off the weekend of March 29-30 with every team thinking it has a shot at playing in MLS Cup 2008, which will be held at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on Nov. 23.

There are a number of questions that need to be answered heading into the season, with the regular season and playoffs to answer them.
  • Can the Houston Dynamo win a historic third consecutive MLS Cup?

  • Will D.C. United's offseason acquisitions be enough to achieve postseason success?

  • Can Chivas USA build on their impressive Western Conference regular season title?

  • Will this be the year the New England Revolution finally win an MLS Cup after losing in the final the past three seasons?

  • Can FC Dallas take over as Texas' dominant team?

  • Can Chicago Fire long-time assistant Dennis Hamlett build on what Juan Carlos Osorio started last season in the windy city?

  • Can David Beckham make an impact ON THE FIELD for the Los Angeles Galaxy?

  • Will the Kansas City Wizards be able to overcome the loss of 15-goal scorer Eddie Johnson to a transfer to the English Premier League?

  • Will Christian Gomez be the type of player the Colorado Rapids can rally behind to lead them to the playoffs?

  • Will the New York Red Bulls be able to finally have postseason success in the league's biggest market?

  • Can Jason Kreis transform fourth-year Real Salt Lake into a playoff team?

  • Will the Columbus Crew be able to break a three-year playoff drought under coach Sigi Schmid?

  • Can Frank Yallop lead the expansion San Jose Earthquakes to the same success this time around as he did with the original San Jose franchise?

  • Can Toronto FC keep its rabid fan base happy by producing on the field?
